Made-for-TV 'Pattern Robber' Busted
Whenever a string of crimes starts to be described as "brazen" and the sheer mass of them (robberies, in this case) is way over the line in "spree" territory, you have to think that the perpetrator's time as a free man is limited. You're on the news, you're doing three or four holdups a day; It's just hard to maintain that kind of exposure and still stay ahead of the long arm.
The man suspected of a dozen robberies since just February was apprehended by police this morning after his apartment complex was surrounded. There was no big escape attempt like the one on March 26th when the man was accused of crashing his stolen vehicle into a police cruiser, however. The "pattern robber" Anthony Asaro was tracked to his Magnolia apartment by SPD and contacted by negotiators at 7am. A half hour later he gave himself up. Seattlest is setting the Tivo to catch the corresponding Numb3rs episode.
