Seattlest has no idea how it happened, but London's Reduced Shakespeare Company is bringing their abridged version of the complete works of ol' Bill Shakespeare to the Tacoma Actors Guild (TAG) for a two-week run from March 24th through April 10th.
As one might expect, this is a whirlwind performance that squeezes each play into bite-sized chunks, such as a 34-second version of King Lear. TAG's website includes a warning to viewers that the show is
"a high-speed roller-coaster type condensation of all of Shakespeare's plays, and is not recommended for people with heart ailments, bladder problems, inner-ear disorders and/or people inclined to motion sickness. The RSC cannot be held responsible for expectant mothers."TAG has been around for a solid 26 years, Shakespeare's work is over half a century old, and Seattlest is confident the combined total years of experience will produce a hilarious show worth the drive down south. Make a night of it and get dinner at Rock Pasta. Then, after being bombarded with every known work of the English language's greatest writer, you can take the sour taste of highbrow lit out of your mouth with a frosty can of Pabst Blue Ribbon at a Tacoma landmark, the legendary Bob's Java Jive.
