Huskies Play for Shot at Final Four
With a win today, the UW Husky men's basketball team will advance to the NCAA Tournament's round of eight for the first time in school history. Louisville, probably the best team the Huskies have seen this year, stands in their way. Here are the three things Seattlest will be keeping tabs on during the game:
1) Can Tre Simmons guard Francisco Garcia?
Coach Lorenzo Romar usually puts Bobby Jones on the opposing team's top scorer, but Simmons gets the assignment this afternoon against Garcia, with Jones matching up against the quicker Larry O'Bannon.
2) Are the Huskies able to run?
Rare for a Rick Pitino team, Louisville is neither deep nor exceptionally athletic. They have employed a 2-3 zone most of the year, instead of the pressing attack that Pitino prefers. Their best offensive weapons are shooters, not penetrators, so they will likely look to play a halfcourt game. The Huskies want to run.
3) What's Simmons' temperature?
Tre Simmons, who scored twenty or more points nine times this year, last did it seven games ago. The Huskies may need a hot game out of him to win. Will defending Garcia enervate him?
The game begins at 4:10 pm. Join us at Seattlest's official March Madness HQ, The Attic, in Madison Park.
