Seattlest Revolution marches ever onward, growing in strength and numbers. Today's new recruit is Kate of Accidental Hedonist fame who'll be issuing orders to our taste buds from here out. Actually, we've hypnotised her into the belief that posting on Seattlest isn't beneath her, so here's hoping she takes a while to come to. While Seattlest plans to serve up enough Kate to keep your belly round, there's always seconds at her site so make sure you check it out as well. Welcome to Seattlest, Kate!
Seattlest adores a sweet obsession, especially when it's been found to help reduce blood pressure and boost the body's ability to metabolize sugar. This is one health kick we can easily get behind.
So where in the Emerald City do we go to get our...ahem...medication? Well, lately we've been hanging out at Rose's Chocolate Treasures at Pike Place market. It is there that we came across the chocolatier who is more than a simple salesperson.
Brena Gustafson (aka 'Rose') is someone who clearly cares about the product that she sells. How many chocolate stores do you know where the person behind the counter knows the differences between Trinatario, Forastero and Criollo chocolate? If you give Rose a moment of time and a question about chocolate, she'll let you know exactly what's on her mind and quite possibly will show you documentation to back up her opinion.
It's this kind of knowledge that Seattlest adores when it comes to food.
The store itself sells many a thing chocolate related, from oils and lotions, to teas and chocolate pots. But it's clear when you walk in that the cornerstone of the location are the truffles, creams and chocolate bars, many of them made on site. Our personal favorites? The chocolate bark made with almonds, and the Chocolate Mexicali truffle infused with cinnamon. We're fairly sure that we would kill someone for these items.
So if you're willing to test these new theories about improving your health, head to Rose's. You may not lower your blood pressure, but it sure will be fun trying.
