It wasn't Hollywood filming a truck barrelling down James Street downtown yesterday. That was real live Seattle and pedestrians were wise to get out of the way. The brakes on John Garrett's truck stopped working as he descended the steep incline near the "sinking ship" parking garage and he was forced to weave his way through two red lights before scuttling the truck in Pioneer Square.
From Komo News:
"I know I went through two red lights at least, because there were two sets of pedestrians jumping out of the way," Garrett said. "I feel really bad. I wish that it just hadn't happened. It could have gone a lot worse than it did."
There's some great video at the Komo site and on KIROTV.com from security cameras that happened to catch the action. Serious injuries were avoided and Garrett suffered only a few cuts and bruises.
