The men in South Korea really know how to treat a lady. At least, that's what we gather from Bad Guy, playing now until Thursday at the Northwest Film Forum. This is the latest film from Kim Ki-Duk, director of the acclaimed Spring, Summer, Winter, Fall...and Spring, and, to say the least, it's not so pleasant.
In fact, when Seattlest mentioned our intention to see this film during its run, one of our friends, an Asian film connoisseur, questioned whether or not we knew what exactly we were getting into. His concern is probably due to the plot. To wit: Han-gi (the titular character, as played by Cho Je-Hyun) sexually assaults a college student (Seo Won) before pimping her out to work at a brothel, where he surreptitiously views her activities from behind a one-way mirror. Stylishly raw with an unblinking eye, and more than a wee bit misogynistic? We're pretty sure we can handle it. Screenings are at 7pm and 9:15pm.
