Rainy Day Mp3's
We have been spoiled by the decandent amount of sun recently, so we have decided not to go outside until it stops raining. Since we have a cable modem and free time, we would like to point out some free and legal downloads for your listening pleasure.
The Bloc Party is a big buzz-y band garnering tons of press, including a blurb in the famed judge of cool, 'Newsweek.' Download a remix of their single 'Banquet.' It's dance-y as all hell, which will undoubtedly charm our downstairs neighbor when we start stomping around. Buy tickets for their Neumos show on March 26.
The Stars, much like the beloved Arcade Fire, are from Canada and they bring a multi-layered sound to their songs. Check out their Zed-saying ways on 'Ageless Beauty.' If you like it, buy tickets for their show at Neumo's on April 2.
Thee nice and undeniably smart, conscientious folks at the South By Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas have compiled a giant amount of mp3's to showcase the various artists performing this year. We are talking 2.6 gigs of free music sure to impress your co-workers with your indie cred, after they check out your iTunes collection. This file is available as a Bit Torrent, which is a really neat protocol that makes downloading large files a breeze. Azareus is a great free program for downloading Bit Torrents. Start downloading 2.6 gigs of good music.
(Speaking of red states, we are both scared and fascinated by the Red State store.)
Amazon.com has a ton of music available on their free downloads page, including tracks from Moby, Visqueen, Bright Eyes, Elliott Smith (hopefully enjoying a Shirley Temple with Tupac in heaven right now) and Beck. They also have some tracks from the new Decemberists album available for streaming.
