R.I.P. Sleestak.net

For the last ten years skateboarders of the Pacific Northwest have called Sleestak.net their home on the internet. The skatepark listings and reviews, the articles and the massive forum have gone dark, though, as Sleestak.net closed its doors last week.

Founder and fearless leader since the site's inception in 1995, Jason Harrison (AKA: Bobacat), used the web community to forge the Puget Sound Skatepark Association which was active in its attempts to save the Ballard Bowl. His activities outside of Sleestak.net have been well covered by The Stranger here and here as well.

Bobcat himself has a few words on the demise of Sleestak.net in a blog entry:

It was fun, but It's time to sit down and get something new going. I've had a couple offers for some new projects and even an offer to step aboard a major skatemag i've been a fan of for a while. It's really hard to let it go, it's like putting a family friend to sleep but it's got to happen.

The body is still a little warm to be reminiscing in this way, but the Wayback Machine will give you a taste of what once was.
