Cherry Blossoms Everywhere!

cherryb.jpg
Is it strange that cherry trees began blossoming in the middle of February? Perhaps. Seattlest is not complaining. Directly outside of our window, a cherry tree in full bloom looks like a giant scoop of peppermint ice cream.

One of the best things about Seattle is that horticulture is close enough that you can see it on a lunchtime walk. If you are in the U District, some of the city's best cherry blossoms are to be found in the Quad on the University of Washington campus, just north of Suzzallo library. Those trees are just starting to bloom.

Those of you on Capitol Hill, check out the two massive and beautiful trees at the peak of their color on Belmont St., just north of Olive, next to B&O Espresso.

If you need more, there's always the Japanese Garden at the Arboretum, which opened for the season on Tuesday.
