Skerritt Sighting

[Ed. note: This post brought to you by our newest Seattlest contributor, Audrey Hendrickson. Welcome to Seattlest, Audrey.]

tom.jpgDo you like the Wild West? What about local movie guy Tom Skerritt? How’s about the intersection of the two?

Tomorrow night at 7pm, the 911 Media Arts Center in South Lake Union is hosting a live reading of Skerritt’s latest screenplay, entitled "How to Fly." Skerritt himself will be in attendance, both to direct the reading and to participate in a post-show Q&A. It’s just like seeing a movie…y’know, except it’s live with a whole slew of local actors, including Jennifer Holmes, Lathrop Walker, Sean Griffin, Ron Hippe, Alexandra Tavares, George Catalano, Marianne Owen and Shawn Telford.

As to the plot, apparently it involves a washed-up English actor’s attempt to create a Wild West show that rivals that of Buffalo Bill--except he’s trying to do it on the cheap, by hiring fake cowboy heroes and other sordid and crotchety characters. Sounds like wackiness is guaranteed to ensue!

The reading is part of the Shooting Scripts series, produced and organized by Seattle film organization The Warren Report. Paid members of The Warren Report get first dibs on seats, but the reading’s open to the general public, and there’s still about 40 seats available. The event is free, though all attendees are encouraged to make a donation to the 911 Media Arts Center, unless they’re selfish, arts-hating bastards.
