Seattle Center-less
The Supersonics are hot. Prior to last nights victory against New Orleans, the Sonics beat the Houston Rockets in Houston, largely by shutting down superstar Tracy McGrady. But the Rockets' center Yao Ming scored 30 points and this highlights the Sonics biggest problem - the Sonics center-less.
This continues a longstanding Seattle basketball tradition (Benoit Benjamin, Rich King, etc). Currently the Sonics have two bodies that measure over 7 feet, Jerome James and Robert Swift, but no power, except when the smaller guys like Danny Fortson and Vladimir Radmanovic step up and help.
This was all brought to the attention of Seattlest when we read in the Seattle Times of Jerome James and his skill at pimpin' out his ride(s). Apparently, James is widely renowned for his taste in car retrofitting, auto acoustic systems and spinner rims. Unfortunately, he is not widely renowned for the basketball skills for which he is paid $5 million annually.
Jerome James 2004-2005 averages per game:
- 15 minutes
- 4 points
- 3 rebounds
- 1 blocked shot
Yeah, and he is their starter! Can someone please buy Howard Schultz a cup of coffee and let him know that Seattle needs a competent, NBA caliber center to really be a contender.
Luckily, James has taken the time to instruct fellow center and high schooler turned NBA hooptie driver Robert Swift in the nuanced art of trickin' out automobiles. Now after sitting on the nice, soft, padded folding chairs at the end of the bench while watching their teammates win games, both Swift and James can roll home in style. Additionally, they both have invested heavily in sound systems that are loud enough for them to share their music with their fellow drivers, how nice.
