More Sailing News: The Seahawks' Weird Offseason

0803_OctopusS.jpegSeahawks owner and Microsoft kajillionaire Paul Allen owns one 400-foot yacht and one 300-foot yacht. That's 700 feet of yacht to enjoy, so it's no surprise that Allen hasn't yet gotten around to choosing someone to run the Seahawks.

The team's top two executives departed in January--one fired by Allen, one hired by the Packers--and for a month the Seahawks have been headless.

Yet on Wednesday, they signed their best player, the dominating offensive tackle Walter Jones, to a seven-year contract.

Supposedly a front office hiring is in the works, but the anonymous drones now running the show seem to be on a roll--why interrupt their flow?

Shaun Alexander and Matt Hasselbeck are the Seahawks' next free agent targets. If they get signed, perhaps Allen should continue his management in absentia and come back only when he has a full tan. As long as he doesn't show it to us.
