A Bad Weekend for Dawgs and Sportswriters

osu.jpegOn Thursday against Oregon, the Huskies shot poorly, played bad defense, and got out-rebounded. They were lauded as "gutsy" by John Levesque of the P-I and "indomitable" by Blaine Newnham of the Times.

On Sunday against Oregon State, the Huskies shot poorly, played bad defense, and got slightly more rebounds than their opponent. They were chided for lacking intensity by Levesque, and Newnham urged them to find their fight.

To read our city's sports columnists, you'd think that the gallant Dawgs of Thursday were replaced by a spineless Sunday crew. In reality, the same nine guys simply played two equally poor games. The reason they went 1-1 is that on Thursday, the Huskies eked out a overtime win because Oregon's young team couldn't hit free throws, while on Sunday, the Huskies got blown out because Oregon State shot 60%.

  • Ah, Blaine Newham. How I don't miss you. If you're not repeating statements from the Mariner's front office verbatim and taking their lies about finances at face value, you're larding adjectives onto inconsistent analysis.

Seth Kolloen is here to shake some sense into you Seattle sports columnists! Listen and learn, bitches!

  • The dawgs were definitely not as "gusty" as the weather was about an hour ago. What was with the sudden snow/hail storm? Steve Pool where are you?
