If you're like us, you've probably done a double take when looking at our fair Space Needle over the past few nights.
The otherworldly red glow emanating from the Seattle Center landmark is enough to make Seattlest recall some notable Needle exchanges, such as the retro orange paint job of 2002, the inflatable alien advertisement for the sci-fi museum launch, and a certain pair of controversial hips.
What a pleasant surprise to find out that this latest transformation is part of the American Heart Association's national "Go Red For Women" campaign. We're happy to see the power of the Needle used to promote women's health, and we mean that from the bottom of our...well, you know.
And don't worry if you still find the red look to be a little jarring--the red lights will only last through Valentine's Day.
