RAWK or not

Sometimes after a hard week at work, we turn on some Iron & Wine or Simon & Garfunkel and kick up our feet. Other weeks, we like to crank the Loverboy's "Everybody's Working for the Weekend" and RAWK.

If you are in more of a Loverboy kind of mood and are looking for some sloppy rock that'll make you spill your beer (or perhaps a glass of refreshing orange juice) as you move on the dance floor, you should check out the Panthers when they play the Vera Project tonight at 9. Their sound is a mix between the Killers and Franz Ferdinand with just a dash of Vital Idol-era Billy Idol.

If sloppy dance rock isn't your scene, take a drive out to the Old Fire House in Redmond to check out Damien Jurado, who crafts fine character-driven lyrics reminiscent of Harvest-style Neil Young, minus the flannel, ripped jeans and feud with Lynyrd Skynyrd.
