Internet Nearly Kills 32 Jilted Lovers
If Seattlest had to guess where this man was arrested, our first try would be "His mom's house," but we'd estimate the charges to be something along the lines of stalking an ex. The first part we would have gotten right: Gerald Krein was arrested at his mother's mobile (nice touch!) home in Oregon Wednesday on charges stemming from an alleged mass suicide ring he fronted on the internet (damn internets). The scheduled date for the suicides is said to be Valentine's Day.
"There is always a chance this is a joke, but our position is in this world, any time a person makes these kinds of overt actions, they need to be looked into," said [D.A. Ed] Caleb.
Seattlest would like to observe that the man pictured doesn't appear to have been involved in any jokes in quite some time. Must have been a hell of a breakup, Gerald...
Apparently, a hesitant participant pointed authorities to the chat room "Suicide Ideology" after another user described her intention of bringing her two children down with her. Police are currently shaking down the internet for more info.
