duFresne Suspects in Custody
NYPD has charged five teenagers in connection with the murder of Nicole duFresne on the Lower East Side. A murder weapon has apparently been recovered as well, although police are still looking for two females they believe to be connected to the case.
It's becoming clear that duFresne's death capped what had turned into a spree of LES muggings. Police believe the group responsible for Nicole's murder had earlier held up and eventually pistol-whipped an off-duty security guard. The duFresne mugging occured when female members of the group attempted to one-up their male conterparts.

One of the muggers challenged two teenage girls who were with them — saying they just robbed a guy and asking what the girls could do.The girls planned to show they were as tough as their friends by beating up DuFresne and Gibson — but things quickly escalated, the sources said.
A memorial party was held for the actress and playwright in Seattle on Sunday at the Capitol Hill Arts Center.
