The Seattle Times today has an excellent article about the availability of ebooks at the King County Library. From the article:
King County library patrons can simply sign onto the library's Web site, find books in the archives and download them onto a home computer."You could be in the middle of the ocean and check out [Ernest Hemingway's] 'The Old Man and the Sea' while you're rowing across the Atlantic," said Marsha Iverson, King County library spokeswoman
Downloading books from the King County Library would definately be a good thing for Seattlest, especially since we have no idea where a King County Library branch could be located.
Seattlest would like to take this opportunity to give all of the libraries in the area a big bear hug for being so unbelievably cool and making us feel like we live in a literate city at the forefront of information delivery technology, even if the last time we were at the library it was only to use the free internet and to pretend we were colonizing Mars. Next time we promise we'll check out a book instead of buying it used from Amazon. Thank you, area libraries, thank you.
