Seattlest hereby attempts to salvage Downer Friday with news that the Camp Fire Kids kick off their annual candy sale today.

Seattlest was a Camp Fire Girl back in the day; though our memories mainly involve experiencing the pangs of homesickness while attending sleep-away camp for the first time, we do have fond memories of the mint patties. The group's mission is pretty cool, and we're glad they've opened it up to the boys.

Look for the usually blue-vested youth over the next few weeks. On Monday, a Seattle Public Schools day off, the kids will be at various downtown locations selling their wares. There's worse ways to spend $5 than on a box of candy for the kids. If you can't find one of the rascals, you can always order online.
