Get Happy

Belltown nightlife tends to fall into two categories: happy hour and beyond. We're committed to happy hour, mostly because we work in the neighborhood. After 7 or 8 we'd rather be anywhere than doing the First Avenue crawl. Herewith, our latest findings...

The late, lamented Fire & Ice won our hearts with Mini-Chuck: though it has faded into memory we recall it as a wee burger and fries for $5. The fact that the place was allegedly haunted and the friendly bartender was full of ghost stories didn't hurt, either.

There's a new Mini-Chuck in town, and he's an even better deal. Cascadia, a restaurant that otherwise would be a total splurge, sells the mini-burger for $1. Yeah, McDonald's dollar menu gives you a double cheeseburger, but we can assure you that Cascadia's mini-burger won't leave you feeling supersized. (In fact, you'll need to order at least two to feel any effect--they are truly mini.) The cool bartender even guided us to a cheaper order of fries, which was smart of her, 'cause then we tipped her more.

Check out their happy hour menu. The bar is crowded and you'll definitely feel like they'd rather be serving the big spenders at the big tables--but you can't beat the dollar deal.
